Derrian Joshua William Stephens was born September 26, 1979 in Sacramento, California to Marsha McCladdie and William Frederick Stephens. Derrian grew up in Sacramento and attended Susan B. Anthony Elementary School and Luther Burbank High School.
To all that knew Derrian, they describe him as being very family-oriented, motivating, kind-hearted, outgoing, giving, the life of the party, and someone who always made the best out of a bad situation. He would give the shirt off of his back and the shoes off of his feet to anyone in need. He had a smile that would light up the room; being the eye candy that would make any woman swoon. His friends called him “brother” and you often heard him calling them “family”. Derrian had an affinity for music and dancing, often finding himself dancing in the kitchen with his wife as she cooked. He loved dogs, binge-watching movies (an avid marvel comic movie fanatic), date nights with his wife, happy hour at Applebee’s, and proudly sporting his “$100” dollar jeans. Derrian was very particular about his appearance and always made sure he was sharp from head to toe, with his shoes being a major focal point. He wouldn’t leave the house without buffing them out first. He was very outspoken with his emotions and would always express his love to those he cherished the most. He wouldn’t leave your presence without uttering the words, “I love you.” Derrian knew God, He instilled in Derrian a gift of discernment so powerful that he and his Mother could feel when something wasn’t right with each other. He and his Mother were very close and would often joke and laugh about various subjects. Their bond was truly unmatched.
Derrian departed this life on March 30, 2017. He is preceded in death by his brother, William (Zharue) Stephens; his grandmother, Annie Tolbert; his niece, Tiyona (Tai) McCladdie. He leaves behind to honor his memory, his wife, Nicolia Stephens; his mother, Marsha McCladdie and father, William Fredrick Stephens; his two sons, Jeremiah Jefferson and Delano Birmingham; sisters, Michelle and Temeko McCladdie; brothers, Anthony Walston and Markeith (Key) Tutt; maternal aunt, Sherrie Thomas; paternal uncles, Jackie Stephens ,Maurice Stephens; paternal aunts, Eva Mae Stephens, Janice Tillman, Brenda Finney, and Doris Stephens; and a host of nieces, nephews and close cousins; close friends, Shrhonda Ward, Quianna Ray, Fred Harris, DeAndre Cotton, Mike Proctor, and Lee Lias.
