Dionysius “Jun” Nicholas, 75, of North Las Vegas, NV, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 2, 1950, in Camiling, Tarlac, Philippines, Jun lived a life full of devotion, laughter, courage, and unwavering love. He was the cherished husband of Cecilia Nicolas and the proud, loving father of Dionysius-Caesar Nicolas and Marc-Anthony Nicolas. The firstborn child of Corazon and Dionisio Nicolas, Jun was the protective big brother to Rogelio, Napoleon, Tessie, Charlemagne, Alexander, and Julieta. From a young age, he carried a heart full of responsibility and generosity. At the age of 16, he met the love of his life, Cecilia, and in 1975, they were wed in a union that became the foundation of an extraordinary journey together. Through life’s challenges, including Cecilia’s open-heart surgery the following year, Jun’s devotion never wavered. He spent hours kneeling in prayer throughout her surgery and stayed faithfully by her side, demonstrating the depth of his love and the strength of his spirit. In 1977, Cecilia’s mother petitioned for her to move to Chicago, and in 1980 Jun soon followed, determined to keep their family together. Soon after, he proudly joined the United States Navy, a calling that allowed him to serve the country he came to love deeply. In 1981, their hearts grew fuller with the birth of their first son, Dionysius-Caesar, followed by Marc-Anthony after the family relocated to San Diego in 1983. Jun’s two decades of service in the United States Navy were marked by courage, loyalty, and an unshakable work ethic. As a Corpsman, he dedicated himself to caring for others, earning numerous honors including the National Defense Service Medal, several Good Conduct medals, Navy Unit Commendation, multiple Meritorious Unit Commendations, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, among many other achievements. He served with pride aboard the USS New Jersey and the USNS Mercy during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, leaving a legacy of valor and camaraderie. His crewmates became lifelong friends and were cherished like family after retirement. Following his distinguished military service, Jun continued to serve his community. Volunteering with Veterans and Catholic organizations, he left a lasting impact on those he served and worked alongside. Despite everything, Jun found his greatest joy in his family. He filled their lives with laughter, guidance, and unconditional love. In retirement, he devoted himself to his wife Cecilia and his two boys. He enjoyed traveling to see family and friends, cooking homemade dishes, caring for his garden. Above all, he enjoyed sharing stories and knowledge with his children and making his wife laugh at his jokes. Jun is survived by his beloved wife, Cecilia; his devoted sons, Dionysius-Caesar and Marc-Anthony; his siblings Rogelio, Tessie, Charlemagne, Alexander, and Julieta; and a large circle of extended family and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts. He now joins his parents and his brother Napoleon in eternal peace. A funeral service to honor Dionysius “Jun” Nicholas’ life and service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Palm Mortuary - Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89131. Eternal Rest Grant Unto the Soul of Dionysius Nicholas, O Lord, and Let Perpetual Light Shine Upon Him. May He Rest In Peace Amen
