We became close friends in middle school, before either of us had driver's licenses. He used to come over and visit on his stingray bike. We remained great friends through high school. He was always kind and gentle. A respectful young man to my parents and they always loved to see him above all my other friends. Don met my first born in 1979, before my immediate family ever saw her. I will always remember the look of amazement and awe on his face as he cradled her in his arms. A very special moment to share with a very special man. I will miss you forever, Love. My prayers will be with his family, especially his mom, Betty and brother David.

I hung out with Don for a bit just after high school. He was always a nice guy with a smile. I’ll never forget we were cruising in his VW beetle. It was a most unusual car as it had tractor tires on the back with aggressive tread. He headed to Hayward where there was a patch of land with steep dirt bike and 4-wheel tracks. There were a lot of big 4x4’s attempting one particularly large hill and I don’t remember seeing one make it to the top. I got out of his car and I’ll be darned if Don didn’t tackle that hill. To my surprise and I’m sure to the amazement of the truckers he steadily climbed and made it to the top! We were cracking up! In recent years I enjoyed Don’s Facebook friendship. He always had a great comment. RIP DON!

Don and I lived less than 1 block away from each other, from elementary school all the way to high school. He had recently become such an endearing, thoughtful, active friend to myself and so many of my classmates. Don always had a kind word on so many posts and I am going to miss those daily posts that I looked forward to every day. Don, thank you. You will be missed. Rest in peace my friend 🙏
