

Donald George Fabbi was born in Tonopah, NV, on October 11, 1935, and passed away peacefully at home in his long-time city of Las Vegas on November 15, 2017. He was married to Barbara Fabbi for nearly 64 years and worked for Nevada Power Company from 1953-1993; and was the founding safety director from 1965 to his retirement. Don and Barbara raised a second family—their granddaughters Mona-Kay and Dawn-Marie—after the death of their daughter in 1991. In his later years, after becoming a Master Gardener, he helped various community gardens across the Las Vegas valley to thrive. Don’s hours of service to the community were so great that he earned a degree in Urban Horticulture. He was well known for teaching gardening workshops at colleges and public libraries. He received many commendations for his volunteerism. He is preceded in death by his parents, Baptist Peter and Frances Reeta Fabbi; brother, Allen Fabbi; daughter, Donlyn Fabbi; and grandson, Marc Fabbi. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Potter Fabbi; sister, Joan Fabbi Keating; brothers, Bruce and Brent Fabbi; sons, Craig (Lory), Kent (Suzanne); and Gary (Jill) Fabbi; fourteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. A visitation will be Monday, November 20th from 6-8p.m. at Palm South Jones Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Another visitation will be on Tuesday, November 21st from 12 noon – 12:45p.m., and the funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., both at Lindell Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2245 Lindell Rd. with the burial to follow at 3:00p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1500 N Las Vegas Blvd N, Las Vegas, NV 89101.
