I was so sorry to hear of CMSgt Hines' passing. He was alway so upbeat in the office, and surrounded by his girls (Mrs. Hines and always at least one daughter!), a testament to family. I will treasure my memories of our visits.

Dear Don Hines Family, I was overwhelmed to hear the passing of this wonderful man that had such a large influence on me at one of the critical times of my life. I was supervised by Don while working at the old State of Nevada building from approximately 1970-1972, while attending UNLV. As we got to know each other, I found him as a very warm individual, who was liked, provided great service to others, cared for those he supervised and had the ability to see the good in everyone. He made a great impact on myself and a friend of mine (Bill Adamson) and helped us turn our lives around, encouraged us to find good careers and we looked up to him as if he was a "second Dad". After graduating from college I would return to Las Vegas to see relatives, and gaze over the Las Vegas Valley and on occassions say to myself, I need to go see my good ole friend Don Hines, which included just a few months ago, the thought crossed my mind. Bill and I always talked about those visits but I always seem to fill the time with family doings. (I'm glad Bill made the effort to visit on occassion.) I have fond memories, funny stories, his dances at the end of the work day, etc., of Don Hines.I'll always remember him and how he took two young, mixed up college kids under his wings and guided them to reach for more and get out of Las Vegas and find a career in Landscape Architecture and for Bill Adamson a successful career with the Nevada Highway Patrol. It grieves me so much that I am not able to attend his funeral & ceremony, due to illness. I want you to know that I beleive we will all see him again and it will be a joyous reunion in the heavens. May God bless you and your loved ones at this time and that you will feel his spirit.

I Kathleen Barker stand witness to Donald Hines as a man who professeed the gospel of Jesus Christ, and walked it, as seen by the strong bonds within his family. I know that Don did not let the tares who entered the church of christs wheat enter without a fight. They are here by Gods will, and know who they are. I will continue to pull tares out of the wheat also....righton Donald Hines! Its been a pleasure to have your family in my life for 30 years.

We are so very sorry for your loss.  Don was a great person and a joy to know.  I appreciated him the many years that we served together on the Church board and just having him as a good friend.  He was a joy to know and a blessing to all of us.

I'm so very sorry for your loss.  Remember all the good times, laughter, love of holidays with the family, his service to our country, work with the Masons.  What a wonderful man!  I know you are all so proud of him and are a living reflection of all his wonderful qualities.

Most Worshipful Don was a mentor to many Officers during their journey to the East, at Nellis #46, including myself. I will never forget his zeal for the craft and no tolerence approach for shenanigans. But his laughter would ring out when something amused him. You will be sorely missed by the Masons that you raised. Peaceful journey my friend.
