Donald G Sackrider

Donald G. Sackrider, Jr went to be with the Lord on 12 May 2025 after a short illness. He was born in November 1949 to Donald G. Sackrider, Sr. and Nancy (nee Castagiola) Sackrider. He traveled the world both as a military brat and later as a member of the United States Air Force. It was during his high school years when his father was stationed at Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls Montana that he met the love of his life, Mary Kathryn Wilhelmi. After graduating high school, he asked Mary to join him on an adventure of a lifetime. He enlisted in the Air Force, and he and Mary started their 55 year life of wedded bliss in August 1969. Don and Mary went on to have their one and only child, Christoper J. Sackrider, in March 1973. Don had a momentous 24 year Air Force career, traveling to several states and countries, retiring in Oct 1993 at the rank of Master Sergeant.

His second career was as a school bus driver for the Clark County School District, spending 15 years serving the children of the county. In his off time, he enjoyed his favorite game, golf, and rooting for his beloved Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed a side hobby of collecting every ball cap known to man.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald. He is survived by his wife, Mary, son Christopher, his mother, Nancy, his brother, Robert Sackrider (Dorie), his sister, Nancy (Sackrider) Murray (Matt), and many loved nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Palm Downtown Mortuary on 19 May 2025 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the USO, VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) or Toys for Tots.
