Don was the only child born to Louis and Doris Strull in Chicago. He served in the Army Reserves three years and attended the University of Illinois. Don met and married Joyce in the mid-fifties. They moved to Peoria to join and then later ran her family’s retail business for thirty years. Together they raised four kids; Steven, Scott, Patti and Penny. Don served as a volunteer for the Civil Defense Police.
Don and Joyce moved to San Diego in the mid 80’s where he worked for the Anheuser-Busch Distributor in charge of Military business and then later marketing. Don later volunteered for the San Diego Police Dept. They retired to Las Vegas where Don volunteered for the Metro Police Dept., worked various golf tournaments and also got his screen extra guild card. Don later joined the Metro Police in their Fleet Dept. in a paid part-time position where he worked for sixteen years up until last June.
Don’s hobbies included volunteerism, camping, bowling, fishing, golfing and flying small airplanes. Don lost Joyce who passed away eight years ago and more recently his eldest son Steven last December. Don had six grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
