

Donna Jean Carter, age 78, died March 16 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada after a courageous battle with cancer. Donna was born July 7, 1947 in La Junta Colorado. Proceeded in death by her husband, Don Carter; parents Harold and Viola Guy; brother Duane Guy and sisters: Patricia Guy, Margorie Swallow, and Mary Hendrickson. Survived by her sister, LaWanna (Leonard) Hendrickson, daughter, Donnette (Jeff) Lewis, granddaughter, Rachel (Michael) Owen, great granddaughter, Piper Owen, and multiple nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of life-long friends.
Donna managed multi-million-dollar budgets for the Los Alamos National Laboratory for nearly 20 years in all. However, she and Don were ready to embark on a new adventure, and return home to Colorado, to raise ostriches. After a few years, the opportunity for the Carter’s to open a machine shop and return to New Mexico presented itself. Don and Donna answered. There they finished their long and successful careers.
They finally retired in Las Vegas, Nevada to be near their family. Donna quickly found a wonderful church family in Las Vegas. She was active and volunteered as treasurer and participated in the choir and on the activities board. She had a creative passion and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, wood carving, and all things crafty. She loved being surrounded by friends and especially her family. Donna’s kind heart and warm soul will be greatly missed by many.
A Service has been scheduled at Palm Northwest Mortuary at 6701 North Jones Blvd on April 10, 2026 at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow at that same location.
