Donna Louise Robinson was born on October 30, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Royal Finch and Ruth Carter Finch. She and her twin brother, Donald, were the youngest of nine children and were raised in the Hill District of Pittsburgh. After the passing of their mother at an early age, Donna was lovingly brought up by her father, siblings, and members of her mother’s family.
An energetic and engaged child, Donna was known for her strong work ethic and involvement in school. She participated in various clubs, played tennis, and generously gave her time as a hospital candy striper. Though she often said her family didn’t have much materially, they were always rich in love—and in music.
From an early age, Donna had a deep sense of justice. She was known for standing up for the underdog and never tolerating bullying in any form.
In 1970, Donna married Henry Robinson and began her journey as a military wife. Their life together took them to North Carolina, Germany, Texas, Alaska, and ultimately Arizona, where the marriage later ended in divorce.
During their time in Germany, two of Donna’s proudest moments occurred—the births of her daughters, Jeanette and Margo. Donna embraced motherhood wholeheartedly. She taught Bible school, actively participated in Girl Scouts with her daughters, supported them through every stage of their education, and, true to form, made sure music was always a part of their lives.
Professionally, Donna built a career with the Army Air Force Exchange Service, where she served faithfully until she was downsized due to base closures. She then transitioned into a successful career in retail, where her strong work ethic and people skills continued to shine.
After relocating to Las Vegas, several things happened. Donna began working with the American Red Cross, focusing on disaster relief. In this role, she was deployed to assist communities affected by hurricanes, tornadoes, and wildfires—offering compassion, stability, and care during times of crisis.
She was also able to help her daughter Margo raise her grandson, Amir—an experience that became one of the greatest joys of her life. She and Amir shared a deep and lasting bond that continued throughout the years.
She also met Barbara, and the two quickly became inseparable. They cherished time with family and friends, especially gathering for large meals—where Donna lovingly noted that she “helped in the kitchen.” Their love grew over the years, and they were married in 2008. Barbara passed away in 2017, leaving behind beautiful memories of a life shared in love and companionship.
Quite unexpectedly, Donna found love again in the fall of 2020. She met Deb during a church Bible study, and their connection quickly deepened. After a joyful and adventurous courtship, they were married on April 9, 2022—a moment that marked a beautiful new chapter in Donna’s life.
From that point forward, her world blossomed. Together, Donna and Deb embraced a life of shared adventures, one of Donna’s favorite destinations being Deb’s parents’ farm in Idaho. She delighted in helping with chores around the house and barn, and reveled in nature—visiting parks and waterfalls, often breaking into spontaneous song with the perfect “radio” tune playing in her heart.
Donna also deeply loved her church, where she was a dedicated member for more than 30 years. She sang in the choir, served on the Board of Directors, led the Social Justice Team, and gave her time and talents in countless ways. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she and Deb nurtured their spiritual bond through daily prayer and Bible reading together.
Donna passed on May 30 with her wife, Deb, by her bedside. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Royal Finch and Ruth Carter Finch; her sister, Juwana Gregory; three brothers, Royal “Junie” Finch Jr., Gerald Finch, and Joseph Finch; and her first wife, Barbara Biesiadecki.
She is lovingly survived by her wife, Deb Brown; her daughters, Margo of Las Vegas, Jeannette (Albert) of Tucson, and Debbie (Paul) of Massapequa Park, NY; and her sons, Kevin (Todd) of Vashon Island, WA, and Thomas (Jerri) of Las Vegas. Donna was a proud and devoted grandmother to eight grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings: Genevieve Sanford, Jeanette Finch, Timothy Finch, and her twin brother Donald (Josephine) Finch—all of Pittsburgh, PA.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Palm Mortuary Northwest, Las Vegas, NV. In keeping with Donna’s wishes, please wear predominantly white.
Donna was also a supporter of several charities. You may make donations to the following in her honor to: Love MCC, ACLU of Nevada and Three Square.
