
Virginia was born on August 31st, 1943, in Morenci, Arizona to Alvin Wyle Jonas and Bernice Jonas. She graduated from Dell City Texas High School in 1962. She went to work for Chrysler Oldsmobile while attended business school in El Paso, Texas. Throughout the years of 1966-1967 she worked for Cashman’s Cadillac also in El Paso, Texas
She then later moved to Las Vegas, NV and began a carrier with KLAS-TV Las Vegas on June 26, 1972. She began her broadcast career as bookkeeper and progressed through the ranks of business office to chief accountant, assistant controller, controller and business manager. Through all the years, Virginia dedicated herself to making KLAS the quality station it is today. She has always been there, lending and helping hands to each department and does so with a big smile. She always made time for any quick question. She was dedicating and loyal to the station her staff and her duties and every employee at KLAS-TV.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Canfield, her parents; Alvin Wyle and Bernice Jonas her 3 brothers; John and Michael Sullivan, Jack Jonas and sister Joan Fine.
She is Survived by her sister Minnie Lewis and family, her brother Alvin Ben Jonas and wife Becky Jonas and Thoman Wyle Jonas; her children Rickey Shepherd and Robin Naylor. And numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held at Palm Mortuary - Cheyenne, 7400 West Cheyenne Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89129, on June 15, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
A Graveside Service will take place at Palm Northwest Cemetery, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131, on June 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
