I am sorry to hear about Mr. DeLanoy.  I was employed at Beckley, et al. in 1974, and worked with Mr. DeLanoy.  He was a delightful man and a pleasure to work for.  My condolences to the entire family.

We are saddened to hear of Drake's death. We remember you both fondly as good friends of our parents and Harold had stories of he and Drake going back to high school. It sounded like those two guys had a lot of fun together and I think he even joined you both on your honeymoon!  Drake and Harold died the same day and I hope St. Peter is ready for them!

Dear Adrienne & Family:

Mr. DeLanoy was larger than life and a commanding presence in both the BSDJ&L office that bore his name and afterwards with Edwards & Kolesar where he was of counsel.  Even though I was not his assigned secretary, he appeared at work one day with a box of chocolates to thank me and when I asked him why, he replied "... because you always helped me when I requested it and you did good work."  I was very flattered.  Even more touching than that was the personal side of your Dad.  Your mother and mine were fighting cancer at the same time and your Dad never failed to ask how my mother was doing.  Thankfully, your mom won her battle.  May your Dad rest in peace and may you find comfort and strength in your time of loss as you share memories with those who knew and respected him so.

Jackie, Debbie, Adrienne and Monica,  Drake always seemed so much bigger than life and I find it hard to imagine him no longer with us.  May he rest well and may God comfort each of you during this time of heartache.

I loved hearing all the great stories about my grandfather today.  Seeing all the people that he influenced in some way or other touched my heart.  He is always pushing people to be better or try something new and for this he has helped shape me.  He has been such a great mentor for my husband Gabe giving him many challenges in his housing remodels to which Gabe has succeeded.  GP, as I called him will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Drake, my friend and mentor.  I use the wisdom of your teachings every day.  Rest in peace.

Drake:  you were my first mentor out of law school in 1980.  Now, 31 years later, i still proudly use your teachings in my career.  You were the finest litigator I've ever seen.  Through my two stints with BSD&J, I came to know Jackie, Adrienne, Debbie and Monica.  Drake, you will always be in my heart.  You were the hardest man to please because your  standards were so high.  But on those occasions when I was smart enough to listen and learn from you, you shaped my  career.  Drake, I will never forget you.  You were my mentor and I considered you my friend.  Rest in peace.

Adrienne and family I lift all of you up to God in prayer, for he is the consoler of our grief.

I worked at BSDJ&L in Mr. DeLanoy's department.  One Saturday I had to go to the office for something and took my 3 small boys with me.  When we got there Mr, DeLanoy was in his office and I told them they had to be very quiet because the "grumpy" man was there.  He came out of his office, shook all their hands, introduced himself and invited them into his office where he gave them the huge balloon he had just received for his birthday.  They LOVED him and he was very funny, telling them stories,and jokes.  From that day on they wanted to come to work with me and play with the "grumpy" man......
