Ed grew up and went to high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1958, he graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Ed was recruited by Southwest Gas and moved to Las Vegas upon graduation. Later, Ed went to work for Nevada Power Company (now NV Energy) where he devoted 35 years of service before retiring in 1999.
Ed was married to the love of his life, Karan Lee Sears, in 1965. Sharing a love of the Chevrolet Corvette, Ed and Karan met in the Las Vegas Corvette Association where they are still members today. They spent many years with the club going on domestic and international adventures and racing. They even raced in the Silver State Classic several times. Together, he and Karan raised two daughters: Allison Karri (Sears) Kramer and Shelley Dee (Anderson) Krohn.
Ed loved spending time at their mountain home in Pine Valley, Utah. Along with their children and Ed’s engineering background, they built their cabin themselves over 40 years ago.
Ed was also a past President and lifetime member of the Desert Sportsman Rifle and Pistol Club. Ed taught not only his wife and daughters how to properly handle a firearm, but also his grandchildren, and friends of his grandchildren. Ed’s love and respect for firearms was passed down to his grandsons.
While his parents and his oldest daughter, Allison, predeceased him, Ed is survived by his wife Karan, daughter Shelley Krohn (Greg) and their two sons, Ryan Krohn (Paula) and Derek Krohn. Ed’s pride and love for his grandsons was obvious every time he spoke of them. Ed is also survived by his younger brother, Benjamin Anderson (Janice) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and his brother- in-law Bruce Hughes (Sandy) of Mesquite, Nevada.
Funeral services to be held at Palm Mortuary at 7400 W. Cheyenne on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.
