I love you so much poppa! Thank you for raising me to be the strong young lady I am today. I appreciate you for everything you have done for me. Our very last memory together will always be in my heart. You are living through me now.  You will always be the best poppa ever. I love you - Nirvana 

To Mrs. Florida Murphy and Murphy Family:

Edward Murphy was a kind and considerate person.  He took time to call and check to see if he could do anything if there was a need.  Those telephone calls went out to so many of us.   We will be forever thankful for his deeds.  I send my heartfelt appreciation and prayers in this time of our loss.  He is now that blessed Guardian Angel in Heaven.

Off we go, into the wild blue yonder,
Not the sky, he was a man of the sea
In the face of the odds, any man would wonder 
How he was as brave as can be!
 I come here today in my ROTC uniform to honor my grandfather as an honorable serviceman. He did a many deeds for this country, but more importantly, he did a many deeds for his family. Everything with him was a learning experience and that’s honestly the majority of what I remember of him, learning from him. There would be times as a child where I would be right up under him in the kitchen, soaking in everything he did, until I’d be too close and get an accidental elbow to the head. Or when I would whine and be extremely impatient during our fishing lessons, only to be overjoyed when I’d finally catch a fish. When he would talk, whether it be a tale or fact, we’d always come out with a lesson. He was a man of family, doing whatever he could to look out for us. And these deeds were, without question, done without question. Serviceman, father, grandfather, he was everything you could ask for in a person. We come here today to grieve, to recollect on the moments of life we hold dear between ourselves and my grandfather. In his lifetime he has made memories with each and everyone of us. With death comes the prospect of “moving on” and “letting go.” There comes anger, denial, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Now all these stages of grief are definite, we will all go through them. But who says we have to move on? Who says we have to let go. Move on from his passing, but never his existence. Let go of his passing, but hold your memories, hold your love for him in your heart. You do not have to let go, for he was too beautiful, too courageous of a person to let go. He was absolutely unforgettable. So we will let him go off into the wild blue yonder. Not the sky, but into the sea. But we will hold him dear to us now..and forever

He always told stories about his childhood and the things he did when he was in the Navy.he always loved fishing and we had gone fishing one day. I caught my first fish, but it was small like a sardine. I was really happy, but later on we had to use it as bait. Although I lost that fish, we later caught plenty more that day. He always talked about fish and sports. He loved basketball. His favorite team was the Cleveland cavaliers and he liked whatever team Lebron James was on. He was always there when I needed him. He taught me many things which led to learning a lesson every time I was with him. For that I am happy to know he has lived a good life.

Your love will continue on thru memories of the way that you fiercely showed your love of family. I marveled at the way you loved my sister and was always the pillar of strength. You accepted everyone for who they are and cultivated the goodness in them. Twenty-five years ago you walked me down the aisle in marriage in honor of my late father and placed my heart, my life into the hands of a man that bares the same great qualities that you possess.  We will miss you tremendously but also know that you are in the loving presence of our Lord. God has blessed you.
