

He was born on November 22, 1966 in Caldwell, New Jersey to Arthur and Joyce Hambacher. He had an older brother, Steven, and an older sister, Barbara. He found the love of his life, Kyong, while serving in the military in Korea. They married in 1989 and had two children, Matthew in 1999 and Christopher in 2001.
Eric served as an aircraft technician in the United States Air Force. He served from 1984 to 1991 before being honorably discharged. He went on to work for various airlines and eventually landed at Southwest Airlines, and he worked there for the majority of his career.
Eric loved riding his motorcycle and rode around the world. He enjoyed many different foods but especially loved White Castle sliders, so much so that he was inducted into the White Castle Cravers Hall of Fame in 2010. He loved hockey and was a devoted New Jersey Devils fan until the Las Vegas Golden Knights were established, after which he was an avid fan of both and would always attend the Vegas games where he could watch them duke it out. He was also a fan of Alice Cooper and attended many of his concerts over the years.
He was a gentle soul with a kind smile and was an incredibly loving husband, father, and son. He is survived by his wife, Kyong, and his two sons, Matthew and Christopher.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on May 4, 2026 at Spring Valley Baptist Church. Visitations will also be at the church starting at 9:00 AM.
