In Loving Memory of Erika J. Yanez-Olave

Erika J. Yanez-Olave, age 60, passed away peacefully in her Las Vegas home on November 19, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family after a year-long courageous battle with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and warmth that will forever echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Erika was born in Santiago, Chile, and migrated to the United States as a teenager, eventually making Las Vegas, Nevada, her cherished home. Her life was a tapestry of love and devotion to her family, and her passing leaves a void that can never be filled.

Erika was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, daughter, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her five children: Janina Moser (Jared Moser), Jaqueline Obregon, Paola Hardy (Eric Hardy), Tony Obregon (Jazmyn Le), and Marcela Zimmerman (Michael Zimmerman). Erika was the adored grandmother of 14 grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

She is also survived by her mother, Elsa Olave, as well as her cherished sisters, Elsa Farias (Guillermo Farias), Ana Oteiza and a vast extended family (in both Las Vegas and Chile). Erika's devotion to her family extended beyond blood ties, as she cherished her extended family and friends, creating bonds that will endure in their hearts.

Erika had a passion for animals and was a dog-owner for most of her lifetime. At the time of her passing, she was the proud owner of four dogs. As a dedicated real estate agent, she raised her children single-handedly, showcasing her strength and resilience. Erika’s zest for life manifested in her love for travel, hosting family dinners and spending quality time with her loved ones.

Erika was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and found solace and community in her faith. She served several church callings in her lifetime including, but not limited to, primary teacher, young woman’s leader and in the Relief Society.

Erika's life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and unwavering love. She faced life's challenges with grace and a smile, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warm spirit, infectious laughter, and compassionate nature will be deeply missed.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Henderson Animal Shelter or adopt a pet, in honor of Erika's memory.
