Lt. Commander. Ernest C. "Bud" English, US Navy, (ret.), age 86, of Las Vegas, passed away January 10, 2015 in Las Vegas. Born January 16, 1928 in Chattanooga, Tenn. he lived in Las Vegas for the past 14 years. Mr. English served in the United States Navy for more than 20 years, retiring in 1970. Following his retirement, he worked as a safety engineer for Aetna until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of the American Contract Bridge League, attaining Silver-Life Master, just 300 points under Gold-Life Master. He loved playing Bridge and teaching Bridge on cruise ships. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jane and Mary. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Eileen (nee Schultz); children Judy (Michael) Dawson, JoAnne English, Ernest C. English, III. and Debra Lee English; five grandchildren, Thomas, John, Amber, Sierra and Ethan, two great grandchildren Fiona and Kipling and brother Jim English. Funeral service will be held 4pm, Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., where family will receive friends from 2-4pm. Interment will take place in Santa Clara, California.
