Eugene H. Gernert

Eugene H. Gernert, 75, passed away February 22, in Las Vegas, NV. A retired firefighter, he was born in Somerville, NJ, on October 2, 1937, and had been a resident of Nevada since 1995. Eugene was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of American Legion Post 8 in Las Vegas. Eugene is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy; daughters, Joni (Felice) Cappuccio of Morrisville, PA and Julie (James) Elliott of Maricopa, AZ; granddaughters, Jessica Lynne Elliott, Felicia Nicole and Kelli Irene Cappuccio; grandson, James Michael Elliott, II; and sister, Adelle Westman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Margaret. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 4PM at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89146, with a reception to follow. Arrangements under the direction of Palm South Jones Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.

Peggy and Family, I'll always remember all the good times we had at Engine 5.
Great guy to work with and for. Eugene was always there to help me at my home when I needed it. We will really miss him.
