Fern Niven Coffin

Fern Ettie Niven Coffin, 87, a resident of Las Vegas, passed away July 30, 2016. She was born April 16, 1929 in Los Angeles, California to her parents Glen Errol and Alice Alfretta Niven. Fern met and married the love of her life, Douglas S. Coffin, Jr. July 21, 1950. Fern was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, whom enjoyed spending time with her family and was very active in her church. She worked for over 30 years within the L.A. County, Palmdale and Lancaster School Districts until retiring in 1989. A woman of many talents, Fern loved to paint, sew, knit, and crochet; making each of her daughter’s wedding dresses. She was a remarkable woman and will be greatly missed. Fern was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Douglas, her parents, and brother, Errol Niven. She is survived by her children, Doug (Michele), Kit (Kent), Ann (Randall), Carey, and Jill (Karl); 15 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at noon, Monday, August 8, 2016 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, Nevada.
