Fiorinda Mae (Rindy) DiDomenico Lamuraglia passed away on Dec 30, 2020. She was born on January 22, 1925 to Michele and Nicolina D’Onofrio DiDomenico at 10 Rumsey Street in Seneca Falls, New York. She spoke fondly of her teachers, the Sisters of St. Joseph, at St. Patrick’s Catholic School and those at Mynderse Academy, one of which paid for her trip to Cornell University to compete in a statewide typing competition. During her childhood she cleaned houses and offices and picked green beans for a penny a bushel. Rindy worked as a looper in the Seneca Knitting Mill and was a runner between offices of the US Army Seneca Ordinance Depot during WWII. She often spoke of the Italian POWs her father would check out of the Seneca County Camps and bring home for dinner to keep up with the latest news from the war in Italy. On Thanksgiving Day in 1945, she married Toby Lamuraglia, a recently discharged Master Sargent of the US Army Air Corp. She worked in a butcher shop eviscerating chickens, a waitress in a restaurant at Seneca Lake and kept the books for their truck business. Their first child Barbara was born in Seneca Falls and in 1951 they moved to Long Beach, California where they had two sons, Toby Jr. and Terry. Rindy kept the books for Toby Sr.’s truck routes for Helm’s Bakery and Adhor Milk. They moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in June of 1955 where their son Michael was born, and Toby Sr began a career with the Las Vegas Fire Department. Rindy was first involved in Parish activities at St James Catholic Church delivering food to needy families and became a founding member of Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church in 1957. She was active in the CYO, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Twin Lakes Lodge, as a Lorenzi Park Ambassador and with the Derfelt Senior Center. She loved the family lunch outings identified in the “Trip of the Week” newspaper articles. Rindy was a professional seamstress, often making clothes for her children and friends. She loved dancing with her friends who performed as the Golden Tappers and the Misfits at local conventions, casinos, hospitals, churches, care facilities and participated in Senior Theatre Events at UNLV.
She enjoyed listening and singing along with the old Italian songs and original Western Music. Rindy was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Josephine Puglisi, Violanda McCahill, Angelina Tobel, brother Michele DiDomenico, daughter Barbara Yurcic and Barbara’s father Toby Lamuraglia Sr., daughter in law Colleen Lamuraglia, step grandson Todd Wright, and grandson Michael Morgan Lamuraglia. She is survived by her brother Antonio DiDomenico, sons Toby (JoAnne), Terry (Margo), and Mike (Terry McBerty), her granddaughter Jenica (Josh) Westerman, three step granddaughters Michell Wright, Christine Miles, and Danielle (Russell) Williams and great granddaughters Roma Westerman, and Nicolina Westerman, step granddaughters Joey Wright, Bobbie Wright, Levi Wright, Cody Wright, Jezzie Miles, Jayda Miles, Mason Williams, McCrae Williams, Haden Williams, and Sadie Williams and Tia McBerty Tinoco.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Aegis Living Las Vegas Desert Inn for their compassionate care. A Graveside Service will be held for the immediate family and in the future a Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life.
