Longtime Coronado resident, Florence (Flo) Margaret Payne passed away in the early morning hours of June 21, 2019, surrounded by those who loved her.
Flo was born June 13, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Edward and Ruth (McCauley) Stickel. Flo is survived by her loving husband Donald Payne, and her sister Noel (Steve) Poissant of Northville, Michigan. Flo is also survived by her brother Edward; niece and nephews; and a Coronado community that loved her dearly.
Flo was a U.S. Navy Veteran and retired in 1996 from the North Island Naval Air Station, as Program Manager, Navy Programs after 40 years of government service.
Flo was a lifelong fan of the Michigan Wolverines and enjoyed watching all of the Michigan based collegiate and professional sports teams. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed the fine eateries and shopping of Southern California. Flo was a member of the Lockheed Martin Star Dusters, Burbank, California.
