He also will be missed by all his grandchildren; Rose and Linda Thomas, Lorena Gaitan, Oscar, Campo Elias Jr., Blanca Nieves, Luis Fernando, Jason, Martha, Sandra, Andrea, Isidoro, Henry, Gloria, Amparo, Dinnson, Elisabeth, Maribel, and Henry Pomar, also by many great grandchildren.
Francisco, arrived in America on December 1980 and reunited with his daughter Rosalba and her family and his son Luis Eduardo and family. He resided in the city of Katy Texas for 17 years with his son Luis. He became an American Citizen in 1998 and in 2001 he, Luis & Ann moved to Las Vegas, NV where he spent his final years. His daughters Rosalba, Blanca and their families also lived in Las Vegas and he spent time with them often.
Francisco enjoyed traveling and visited all his family in Colombia very often. He also went to Jerusalem with his son Luis. He enjoyed that trip to the max. It was a dream come true for him, since he was a strong believer and enjoyed going to church. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In 2001 he went to Texas to visit his daughter Marina and her family. He was turning 90 years old at the time. He was surprised by his grandson Luis Fernando with a hunting trip. He was still able to shoot but told Luis that he did not aim to kill because he felt mercy for the birds... He, indeed, killed one but he did not realize he had done it.
He celebrated his 90th birthday at my sister’s house surrounded by his family and best friend Don Antonio y Sarah Gama. He enjoyed his favorite meal…barbeque, grilled by Frank his son in law.
He spent most of the time in America with his son Luis & Ann. The last day of his life his grandson Luis Fernando, visited him and together they went to see his daughter Blanca and Melvin where they enjoyed homemade Colombian breads… “biscochos y almojabanas.” Right after, they went to visit his daughter Rosalba and Reese. His grandson Luis departed to Texas and Dad spent the rest of the afternoon playing cards with Mrs. Thomas at my sister Rosalba’s house. He was called to Heaven that Saturday night in a very peaceful way with his son Luis and Ann by his bed side.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear”.
