Francisco Edward Teodoro, (83), of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away peacefully on December 17, 2023, surrounded by his family. Francisco, fondly known as Ed or Eddie was born in Alhambra, California to Mariano and Dorothy Teodoro, on July 19, 1940. He loved playing poker and card games with his family & friends. Ed really enjoyed going to swap meets and garage sales. He also loved playing golf. In fact, Ed hit a hole in one on the 6th hole at the Callaway golf course on July 5, 2001. Ed played in the annual El Cortez Golf Invitational tournament for years.
Ed attended Hobart Elementary school. He graduated in 1958 from Los Angeles High School. After high school, Ed worked as a short order cook for four years at his parent's restaurant, Tina's Cafe in Los Angeles. Ed joined the Marine Corps on July 1, 1961, as an infantry rifleman and had the honor of being the platoon guidon. On July 26, 1965, he separated as a Lance Corporal.
Ed met the love of his life, Gail Miller, through a mutual friend when he worked at a racetrack in California prior to joining the Marine Corp. They met again in 1965 in Las Vegas at the Thunderbird Hotel & Casino. Our parents were good friends for a long time and dated briefly before eloping on November 12, 1967. They honeymooned in Catalina Island. The following year, twin daughters, Carolena & Michelle were born on August 8, 1968. Then five years later a son, Jason was born on July 13, 1973. Our family moved from Los Angeles to La Mirada, California in 1973. For fifteen years, Ed worked at Sears Roebuck while also working for ten years at George Oliva (paper company).
In 1982, Ed moved his family to fabulous Las Vegas! He started out working as a blackjack dealer at the Barbary Coast. Ed spent 24 years working for Jackie Gaughan's casinos: Western Hotel & Casino; Hotel Nevada & Casino and Gold Spike Hotel & Casino. He retired on March 22, 2006, from the El Cortez Hotel & Casino as a pit boss.
Some of our parents' favorite vacations were to Maui in October 1990, the Grand Canyon and driving up the West Coast to Sequoia National Park on their way to the Canada Expo. Ed & Gail were happily married for 34 years until our mom passed away in 2001.
Ed met Benjamina Baron in 2002 while he worked at the El Cortez Hotel & Casino. They married in September 2003. After Ed retired, they were able to travel to California, Rome in 2006 & 2015, Egypt in 2010 and France in 2015. On their last trip to Rome, Ed was baptized in the Jordan river. They divorced in 2021.
