A Celebration of Life Freddie Marion Muse was born to the union of Alvin Allen Warren, Sr. and Robbie (Ingram) Warren in Byhalia, MS.; The eighth of eleven children. She received her education from Isaac Chapel Elementary School in Byhalia, MS., Melrose High School in Memphis, TN. and attended Rust College in Holly Springs, MS. Growing up, Freddie loved spending time with her many sisters and brother. She helped tend the family farm as well as work in Warren’s Grocery and Theatre which her parents owned. Freddie would tell stories of walking to school (while carrying her shoes), but before making that walk, she had to wake up early to feed the chickens, slop the hogs and milk the cows. Freddie taught for two years at Tunstall Elementary School in Byhalia, MS. On August 24, 1953 she married Edison Muse Jr. and to this union four children were born; Thomas A.E. III, Larry, Alvin and Charisse. Freddie was a spiritual person and raised her children in the church. She was a member of New Exodus M.B. Church in Chicago, IL for many years. In 1974 her family joined Shiloh M.B. Church in Chicago, IL under the leadership of the late Rev. Gordon A. Humphrey Sr., where she served on the Nurses Board. The entire family served in the church; Edison as a Deacon and the children sang in the choir. Freddie was such a care-giver and loving person; so much that she decided to become a stay-at-home mother and care for her children full time. Her love of children would ultimately lead her to care for many in the neighborhood. She loved to travel and visit family from California to Ohio often attending church revivals in Mississippi. She often spoke of how she enjoyed her trips to Hawaii (“Hang loose in Hawaii!”) and Spain, her face would light up with excitement. She was the best cook ever, often being asked to cook even while on vacation! No one could cook better than Mama and we always made sure we told her. Mama always had something to eat whenever you’d stop by, but always said “I’ve only got a little something” but then proceeded to set out a full four course meal. That’s how Mom was and she never wavered from that. We knew that cooking was her passion, even if she didn’t say it. She had to stop giving recipes away as people would show up at some of the same functions with dishes made using the recipes she’d given them. She always talked about opening a restaurant, but that dream never came to pass. Freddie was called home April 6, 2016 as she slept. She was preceded in death by her Husband; Edison Jr., Son; Thomas A.E Muse III, Parents; Alvin Sr. and Robbie Warren, Brother; Alvin Warren Jr., Sisters; Mary Elizabeth Warren, Lurline Warren and Minnie Warren Johnson. In her passing, she leaves to cherish her sweet memory to those who loved her well: Two sons; Larry D. Muse (Barbara) - Chicago, IL., Alvin B.
