Frederico Mopera Manuel

Frederico is survived by his sons, Nelson and Victor (Jennifer S. Conway) both of New York City; his granddaughters, Hailey and Sophie; his sister, Adoracion Lackar of Las Vegas; his brother, Orlando; and his nephews, Alexander (Anthony Myers) and Ulysses—all of Chicago. Frederico was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Cesaria (Bernal); his sister-in-law, Evanzuela (Orgas); his brother-in-law, Godofredo Lackar; and his grandnephew, Rodney Manuel.

On December 22, 1933, Frederico was born to Marcelo and Genoveva (Mopera) Manuel in Poblacion, Polillo, Tayabas (now Quezon), Philippines. After receiving his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Santo Tomas, Frederico moved to New York City in 1964 to complete his medical training. A year later he got married, and in 1968, Frederico moved to the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, to start a family and a private medical practice lasting 36 years.

Frederico felt that being entrusted with people’s health was the greatest privilege of his life. He loved interacting with his patients and getting to know them as people, rather than just a collection of symptoms. Frederico will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, good humor and kind temperament in his roles as physician, husband, parent, sibling, father figure and friend. His impact on those he touched cannot be overstated and will never be forgotten.

To remember Frederico’s life and memory, a visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025 (3:00 PM to 7:00 PM) at Palm Northwest Mortuary & Cemetery. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 (12:00 PM) at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, followed by an interment ceremony (2:00 PM) at Palm Northwest Mortuary & Cemetery.
