

Fuatau Malae Misi Hunkin was born on 25 May 1944 in Nuuuli, American Samoa and departed this life on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Complex Care Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a son of the late Mr. Misi Faiivae Hunkin and Mrs. Sialasa Asafo Hunkin. Sisters are: Tialuga M. Tyrell, Solonaima M. Sualua, Mele M. Brown, Utumoe M. Sogimaletavai Leo; Brothers are: William M. Hunkin, Misi Hunkin & Jackson M. Hunkin (Deceased). Fuatau was a Graduate of Samoana High School in 1964. He started working at the American Samoa Power Authority as an accountant right after graduation from 1964-1966. He then start working from 1966-2009 as an accountant for the Star-Kist Samoa Inc. After 43 years of service, he decided to retire and enjoy life with his family. He is a Father with such a humble heart who is so full of love and so full of life. His handsome smile, giving heart, and joyful laughter will forever be missed. He was ordained as a Deacon of the Nuuuli Christian Church American Samoa from July 1971 until he departed this life to be with the Lord. In November 25, 1970, he married the love of his life, Miriama Auvaa Hunkin and united in Holy Matrimony. To this union, seven children were born, Ulysses (Deceased), Sialasa, Faapepele, Fuatau Jr., William, Saveasiuleo, and Edward Hunkin. Those left to cherish precious memories of him are his loving wife Miriama A. Hunkin of Vaiusu, Western Samoa; Sisters: Tialuga M. Tyrell, Solonaima M. Sualua, Mele M. Brown, Utumoe M. Sogimaletavai Leo; Brothers: William M. Hunkin, Misi Jr. Hunkin; Daughters: Sialasa Hunkin, Faapepele Hunkin-Tajalle, Luasefulu A. & Tolu Fuimaono, Minarieta Hunkin; Antonina Felise; Alisa Fola, and Malia Lemaota ; Sons: Vito & Sapai Levu; Fuatau Jr. & Carrie Hunkin, William Hunkin, Saveasiuleo & Mellissa Hunkin, Edward & Josephine Hunkin, Tavita Lemaota; Foti Hunkin, & Sese Hunkin; Grand-daughters: Millie Hunkin, Jamie R. Levu, Nicole D. Tajalle, Victoria P. Tajalle, Talia Hunkin, Pele Hunkin, Edwina Hunkin, Lourdes Hunkin, Amelia Hunkin, and Analisa Fola; Grandsons: Victor T. Levu, Fotu & Grace Levu, Michael R. Levu, Dean I. Tajalle Jr, Ulysses Hunkin, Michael Hunkin, Aidan Fuatau Hunkin, Matthew D. Hunkin, Claydean Fuatau Hunkin, Noah Hunkin, & MicDean Fuatau Fuimaono; Great-Grandkids: Mathias and Masiofo Levu; sisters and brothers in-laws, nieces and nephews, and a host of many other loving relatives and friends who will miss his presence dearly. Everyone keeps saying it doesn't seem real that you are gone. God knows this is one time we wish we were wrong. It's going to be hard without you, but we are going to make it. Your spirit will forever be present in our life. The life you lived was great indeed. Now it's up to us to sow your seed. We know not the hour, the year, nor day. But The Lord has a time for all to go. Which is a time that none of us shall know. We will always remember your words of wisdom because of your love towards us during our good times and during our challenges. You have never failed to put God first. Thank you for the path you have set for so many of us. We are proud to have been a part of your life and you will be missed dearly. Love You Always, Your Family
