George E. Bean, grandson of the first Las Vegas settler and pioneer, passed away Sept. 6, 2012, at the age of 82. He was born March 8, 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah. In the early years, George played football at the University of Utah. He was drafted in 1953 by the Cleveland Browns and played one year. He returned to Utah, and married Marlene Youngberg on December 16, 1953. They were married for 52 years. George was self-employed in the furniture business. In 1969, he moved to Las Vegas with his family and went to work for the Willden Auto Group. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; five brothers; and his wife. He is survived by his daughter, Georgia L. Bean-McLaren, (Patrick); son, Jesse Scott Bean; and four grandchildren. Services will be private. Special thanks to all the staff at the Manor and Creekside Hospice who cared for him these last six years, and lastly, Angelo.
