Gerald P. Baumbach Jr.

He was born December 4, 1944 in Sparta, WI. He married Joan Sobotta on August 26, 1969 and they spent the next 44 years living in Sun Prairie and raising their 4 boys.

Jerry attended the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and proudly served the state of Wisconsin and The United States in the Wisconsin Army National Guard for 6 years. His career started with the Wisconsin State Patrol, and after 4 years he was elevated to the Gubernatorial Protection Detail where he loyally protected 6 governors over 27 years.

Jerry loved his family, friends, and dogs. He greeted everyone with a smile, joke or hug, no matter the environment. He enjoyed life to the fullest and made sure everyone in his company did so as well.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Joan (née Sobotta); sons Scott (Kelly), Barry (Stacie Oskins), Brett (Courtney), Jed (Wendy Johnstone); three granddaughters Tenley, Tayton, and Maddyn; and his sister Bonnie (Chris) Urban. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Berdene Baumbach.

Services will be held at 10:00 am, January 29, 2014 at Palm Mortuary.
