

Gilberto Alvino Castillo, age 63, of Las Vegas, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in Las Vegas. Born January 16, 1951 in Los Angeles, he had been a Las Vegas resident for 42 years. Mr. Castillo was Basketball Manager for the UNLV Rebels under Jerry Tarkanian. Later he worked in the casino industry and most recently with Home Depot as an Appliance Specialist. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed being a handyman for his family and friends. Mr. Castillo was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Council. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Juareen; daughter Kristal (Leonard) Urso and son Mackenzie (Janelle) Castillo; grandchildren Benjamin, Zachary, Emaliegh, Chloe; sister Virginia Castillo; brothers Andres (Myrna) and Edward (Jeanette) Castillo and mother-in-law Gloria Navo. Funeral mass will be held at NOON on Monday, June 30, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2300 Sunridge Heights Parkway, Henderson where family will receive friends from 10am until time of service. Contributions in Mr. Castillo's name are suggested to Holy Spirit Building Fund or to the Bishop Gorman Scholarship Fund, both at 5959 S. Haulapai Way, Las Vegas, 89148. Palm Mortuary, S.
