Gladys Geraldine Kimbrough, known to her loved ones as Gerri, passed away peacefully in her Las Vegas home on November 15, 2022. She was born on October 9, 1934, in Duncan, Oklahoma, to Reba and Rev. Calvin Rogers. Gerri was the cherished sister of Robert and Christine.
On October 23, 1954, Gerri married her beloved husband Arvin in Yuma, Arizona, and together they built a beautiful life. Gerri’s journey led her to pursue higher education at Humboldt College in Eureka, California. She began her career as a secretary at Teledyne Ryan in San Diego, while also assisting Arvin in his business ventures.
Later, Gerri discovered her passion for real estate and became a successful realtor for Century 21. Her dedication and skills earned her the title of a top salesperson for many years. Gerri’s professional achievements were only surpassed by her dedication to her family, which she considered her greatest accomplishment.
A vibrant and loving soul, Gerri enjoyed hosting gatherings and entertaining her loved ones. She had a love for dance, cooking, and playing cards. Her infectious enthusiasm brought joy to all who knew her.
Gerri was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for an impressive 60 years, engaging in numerous philanthropic activities alongside her sorority sisters. She deeply cared about making a positive impact on her community.
Gerri’s memory lives on through her sister, Christine, of Tucson, Arizona, her eldest daughter, Calina, of Las Vegas, Nevada, her son Louis of Meadview, Arizona, and her daughter Pamela of San Diego, California. She was also blessed with 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Gerri’s life will be held at Palm Mortuary on June 9, 2023. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Arvin at Bunker’s Memory Gardens Memorial Park located in Las Vegas.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gerri’s eldest daughter, Calina, for her dedicated care during the past nine years as Gerri battled Alzheimer's disease. Calina lovingly provided home care for her mother, where Gerri spent her final years in comfort and peace.
In three words, Gerri’s life can be summed up as "family came first." Her legacy will continue to inspire and be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.
