

Gordon was born on June 11, 1933, in Laramie, Wyoming to Forrest Clay Hite and Dorthy Emma Anna Hite. He spent his childhood years with his parents and his sister Marilyn Fae Sifford in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Gordon graduated from Cheyenne Senior High School in 1951.
Following Gordon’s high school graduation in 1951, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served active duty as a military police officer at Fort Gordon, Georgia. After Gordon’s military service, he began what turned out to be a 36-year career with the iconic Union Pacific Railroad. His work assignments began as a member of a railroad survey team and later he served in multiple executive/senior management assignments throughout the Western U.S. to include the Union Pacific's national headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska.
In 1955, while early in his railroad career, Gordon met his lifelong partner, Bernice Lucy. Gordon and Bernice married November 17, 1956, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They resided during the entirety of their married life in Gordon’s numerous Union Pacific locations throughout the West, to include Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado, Oregon, Nebraska, and retiring in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1989.
Gordon and Bernice raised and showed dogs for over 30 years traveling coast to coast in their RV. During that time they found a love for the RV culture, where he later became the president of the Lucky 7 RV club and served for 14 years. Gordon and his beloved wife were life partners for 51 years, until her passing in 2008.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bernice and son Kent. Gordon is survived by his son, Kraig Hite (daughter-in-law Mikell) of New Plymouth, Idaho. Kerri Hite of Colorado Springs, Colorado, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Palm Mortuary on Jan 12 at 12:00 Noon.
