

Gordon Jules Sarret, a life-long Nevadan, passed away on October 27,2015 surrounded by his family. Gordon was born on November 15, 1945 to Ha and Jules Sarret in Reno. Shortly thereafter, his family moved to Las Vegas where his father ran an office furniture and supply store that Gordon worked at while he attended Western High School. Upon graduation, Gordon attended the University of Nevada, Reno and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas earning a bachelor's degree in political science. Having met his wife Susan in high school, they married in 1966. Following his college graduation, Gordon started working at Arrow Ready Mix, his wife's family business, filling a variety of roles and doing whatever needed to be done to ensure its success. After several years, Gordon transitioned into property development, serving as one of the principals behind the development of Spanish Trail Country Club. Gordon was an active member of the Las Vegas community serving on several boards during his career, including over 20 years as part of the Spanish Trail Board in addition to serving as President of Spanish Trail. Following the fire at the MGM in 1980, then-Governor of Nevada Paul Laxalt appointed Gordon to the Fire Safety Commission, laying the groundwork for what would become the gold standard of fire safety in the hospitality industry. Gordon loved spending time with his family, being with friends and traveling the world. He had a love of golf and played often, sometimes squeezing in a quick 18 holes before work. He and his wife traveled extensively and introduced their children to skiing with many trips to Tahoe and Utah. Additionally, Gordon enjoyed a "boys trip" to Alaska for fishing every other year with his sons, sons-in-law, and best friends. He was also a devoted grandfather to his seven grandchildren. He was active in their lives, loved spoiling them with treats, and enjoyed playing with them. He was preceded in death by his parents; father, Jules James Sarret and his mother; Ha Fay Sarret. Gordon is survived by his wife of 49 years, Susan Carol (Blasco) Sarret; his son, Joseph Jules Sarret and his husband Joseph Daley of San Francisco; son, Gordon James Sarret and his wife Adrianne and their children Hannah, Hailey, and Helaina of Las Vegas; son, Christopher Michael Sarret of Las Vegas; daughter, Nicole Christine (Sarret) Moeslacher and her husband Christopher and their children Isabella, Abigail, Creek and Emerson of Las Vegas; and his sisters Karen Fay Bartolo and Lynne Kay Doney, both of Las Vegas.
