Gracie was born January 20, 1944, to Mr. Peter Simpson and Mrs. Mary Alice Felix Burks (Simpson) in Tensas Parish, Louisiana. Gracie also attended school in Tensas Parish. She later moved to Las Vegas and eventually met and married Jimmie Charles Cooper.
Gracie was baptized at an early age and remained a faithful servant until she departed this life.
Gracie’s father, Peter Simpson, her mother, Mary Alice Felix Burks, her sisters, Mary James, Dorothy Spencer, and Shirley James, and her brother Charles Simpson, all preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter Cynthia Mays; her granddaughter, Mekia Farmer (Mike), 4 grandchildren, Trea’Von Coleman, Treonia Coleman, Royon Hammond, and Michael Farmer, Jr., 8 great-grandchildren, a special niece, Thomazina Bass (Greg), a host of nieces and nephews, all of which she truly loved, and many friends, church family, and old co-workers.
