With the perpetual light shining upon him, Gus E. Anderson, of Atlanta Georgia, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday August 17th 2015 at Mountain View Hospital. Gus, also fondly known as "Andy" battled a courageous bout of Hodgkins Lymphoma which ended his journey in life. Gus was born on July 25, 1945 and lived 70 fabulous years. He had the warmest heart with a smile to match. He was always willing to give a helping hand, or just be a shoulder to lean on at any given time. He loved and lived for family time, this is what brought him the most joy, as well as watching football with his grandsons. Gus served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War receiving distinguished medals, including National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. Once retiring from the Air Force he went on to work for the Clark County Housing Authority for a few years, and then doing civilian work at Nellis A.F.B. finally retiring in 2007.
Gus was the son of Bolton and Cornelia Anderson who have preceded him in death. He is a brother to five siblings, Aida Anderson of Atlanta Georgia, Pat(Janie) of Seattle Washington, Gene Anderson of Atlanta Georgia, Alma Anderson of Atlanta Georgia, and Martinique Anderson of Las Vegas. Gus was married to Teresita Anderson for 48 years. The met and fell in love while he was stationed in Guam. Together they raised four children and nine grandchildren. He is survived by son, Vincent Anderson, daughter Trish Holmes(son in-law Nate), son George Anderson, and youngest son preceded in death Mark Anderson, grandchildren who he cherished Mario and Marcos Wesley, Rick Anderson, Genae Anderson, Vance Anderson, Sydney Holmes, Aubrey Anderson, Shanell Holmes, and Nishelle Holmes. Gus will be missed immensely by his nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. His memory will be forever in their hearts and in their lives as he touched so many.
Visitation will be Monday August 24th, 2015 at Palm Mortuary Downtown, 1325 Main Street Las Vegas, NV from 4p-8pm with a rosary at 6:00p.m. The service will also be held at Palm Downtown Tuesday August 25th,2015 at 10:00a.m. with burial at Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive in Boulder City, NV. with celebration to follow at family residence.
