

Born January 13, 1940, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Harold was the youngest of five children and a proud product of the 5th Street School and Las Vegas High School. In 1958, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving with honor aboard several vessels before completing his service in 1963 at the rank of Petty Officer Third Class.
After returning home to Las Vegas, Harold built a life rooted in hard work and deep devotion to his family. Together with his beloved wife, Jane, he raised three children. He found his calling as a locksmith and spent the bulk of his career with Reynolds Electric & Engineering Company, contributing to operations at both the Nevada Test Site and the Rocky Flats Nuclear Facility near Denver, Colorado.
Harold will be remembered for his unwavering generosity, sharp wit, and the kind of humor that could light up a room.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Louise Mellott; siblings Emily McKinley, Francis Earl Mellott, Patricia Mull, and Jacqueline Ely; his son, Michael Mellott; daughter, Allison Mellott Copening; and grandson, Timothy Gallus.
He is survived by his daughter, Gina (Bill) Gallus; grandsons Nick Gallus and Ryan Gallus; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
A visitation for Harold will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Palm Mortuary - Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Palm Northwest Mortuary & Cemetery, 6701 N Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131.
