

Harry Donald Alfred Underwood, known to most as “Sarge”, of North Las Vegas, NV, peacefully passed away on March 11, 2026, at the age of 70, surrounded by his friends and family leaving behind a legacy of patriotism, loyalty, and friendship that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Harry was born on November 2, 1955, in Torrance, California to Homer Thomas Underwood and Wanda Elaine Underwood. From an early age, he carried a deep love for his country and a strong sense of duty. Once given the opportunity, Harry enlisted in the Army displaying that devotion, a role he took great pride in and one that earned him the nickname “Sarge.” Harry’s service to his country was one of the defining chapters of his life.
Harry was also a very spiritual person who deeply loved God. His faith was an important part of his life and helped guide the way he lived and treated others.
He devoted several years to the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power, earning the respect of colleagues and forming lasting friendships along the way.
Beyond his military service, Harry was known as a man with a big heart, warm personality, sense of humor, and the simple joys he cherished. He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers, rarely missing a chance to cheer on his team. He enjoyed collecting many things, including eagle figurines, Native American cultural items, cowboy hats, leather jackets and vests, military memorabilia, and coins. Harry took great pride in the history and stories behind each one. Many mornings you could find Harry in his favorite booth at Denny’s, enjoying his beloved breakfast burrito, at least four iced teas, and a bowl of Splenda in the company of friends.
Harry will be remembered as a true patriot, a loyal friend, and someone who was genuinely loved by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Harry is survived by his sister, Elaine, and his brothers, Hart Lee, Robert, and Steven.
Harry’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A visitation will be held at 8:00 am and his funeral service will be at 9:00 am. The committal service will follow. All services will take place on Friday March 20, 2026, at Palm Northwest Mortuary and Cemetery, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131.
