An Angel on Earth: Helen was born on the 323rd day of 1953, a Scorpio, Chinese Year of the Snake; it was a Thursday. Her parents were Juan (Leon Guerrero) Crisostomo Flores and Julia (Barcinas) Cabrera Flores. She learned a lot from her Mother and was the Middle of five children that survived Birth. 3 had not. She only had one Brother, Henry, the Oldest, but he died not too long ago. Next was Annie; who died at the age of just 44. When Helen died, she was the oldest of her generation for both her and her Husband John’s family. Helen was born in Talofofo, Guam. She used to play in the dirt, but her Mom would tear down the things that Helen built. Helen learned to cook from her expert Mother; and she would cook for the whole family. She would also at times catch shrimp and fish with her siblings and Mother. She additionally Babysat the younger Rosaline and Norma; the next two down. Helen was a very good angler later on in her Married Adult life. God loves Helen and Helen loved God. She attended Talofofo Elementary School before enrolling in the Guam Seventh Day Adventist School on Cross Island Road. Helen loved volleyball in school and took up bowling later in her Adult Married life. Everything that Helen attempted, she excelled at. She rarely lost at any card or dice game that she played with her husband or others. Everyone loved it when Helen sang. She had a beautiful voice and loved Church songs and Guamanian ones as well. She actually caught COVID-19 when singing at one of the Casino Rental Rooms celebrating a relative’s event because she took off her mask to sing! She also sang when family was gathered at Her Mother’s passing. As a child, Helen had a recurring dream of a white man in uniform descending stairs from an Airplane; she thought that it was a Navy Uniform. Helen dropped out at the last minute from graduating from High School, but she went back the next year and graduated then. She worked hard as a young girl helping to support her entire family; she did laundry, washed floors, worked as a live-in Babysitter or Nanny for other families; then later got paid jobs from companies. She was probably married for one or two years before she completely paid off her school tuition and received her diploma. Throughout her private schooling she had to work toward the tuition and it didn’t help that she had bought the furnishings for the family home built of reinforced concrete, allowing them to move out of their elevated wood and tin roof former house. Helen was very smart and got great grades. She had a slight advantage because she had an excellent memory. She could memorize the pot hole locations on the paved roads wherever she drove; all over the world! Helen ended up meeting a young man that later joined the Air Force? Well, the Navy Uniform in her recurring dreams was probably because she ended up working for the Air Force and the Navy as a Commissary Cashier and later on as a Medical Records and Radiology Transcriptionist; thanks to her memory skills and learning typing at the Trade school after high school! She received a lot of recognition and bonus pay for her speed and accuracy. When voice recognition caused her to have to be retrained, she was at the top of her graduating class for ICD-10 Medical Coding and Billing. Helen was overweight growing up and lacked 100 percent confidence, but the older she got the more she became less overweight and more self reliant. This may be why she hesitated to have children; but after 3 and a half years of marriage, she had Joseph, nick-named Joey or Joefish. Speaking of Nicknames, Helen’s is Lelling. After some tough times in her marriage, she nearly got divorced but, after consulting with God, she forgave her husband, they renewed their vows, and later had Joshua. Both Joe and Josh were born at the old David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base in Vacaville, California, where Helen also worked. They were born in the exact same Delivery Room but 9 and a half years apart. After Josh was born, the Hospital was used for other purposes and a brand new Hospital was built. Helen would often tell people that she and her husband had lived at 75 addresses during their marriage, which was true. She also was very religious, spread the word of God, and extremely charitable. Her Mother had taught her to not cause trouble and to hold her tongue as often as she could. Everyone who ever met Helen, loved her; she had a pleasantness to her and a beautiful smile. Because everyone tried to list her married name as either Helen Cabrera Masters or Helen Flores Masters, early on she and her Husband decided that their family names were to be: Helen Cabrera Flores Masters, John Benjamin Moody Masters, Joseph Aaron Flores Masters, and Joshua Clay Flores Masters. Because Helen’s heart was so generous, it became weak and she died having stents placed in 2 of her arteries; her heart quit after the second artery was finished and after over an hour of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation effort, she was declared dead at approximately 2:47 PM on Tuesday, the 26th of August, 2025. She had been on the operating table for a total of 3 and a half hours with a heart that had 100 percent blockage, 90 percent blockage, and 95 percent blockage, estimated to be working at 25 percent capacity. She probably passed away closer to 1:30 PM. And, An Angel is recalled to Heaven by our Loving God, who could no longer lend her to the rest of the people on Earth! She is home now.
