HORACE EMILE DUBE, 93, a 49-year resident of Las Vegas, passed away June 19, 2020, at Infinity Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Born June 15, 1927 in Springfield, MA, the son of the late Horace Emile and Odina Dube (nee Hudon), he graduated from Springfield Trade School and Springfield Night School. He married Leona H. Dube (nee Corriveau) in Springfield, June 4, 1949. As a young man he worked at a garage, selling ice cream from a truck, in the State Guard, and at the Westinghouse foundry until December 5, 1951, when Mr. Dube began his career in Intelligence and Photo Interpretation in the U.S. Air Force. The family was then stationed in Shreveport, LA (1952-53); Ramey AFB, Puerto Rico (1954-55); and Agawam, MA (1955-65); where they had one son, John Alfred. They were again stationed in Puerto Rico (1965-68); then Offutt AFB, NE (1968-71); and finally here in Las Vegas at Nellis AFB in January 1971. After serving as First Sergeant, Mr. Dube retired from the Air Force in the autumn of 1979 as a Senior Master Sergeant. He maintained a very active retirement, acting as a leader of the local U.S. Census office in 1980 and 1990, a Field Agent for the Knights of Columbus, a Director of Nevada Federal Credit Union, and finally an administrative assistant for his son’s financial planning practice, Dube, Sudol & Associates, a division of American Express Financial Advisors Inc. Mr. Dube was preceded in death by his beloved wife Leona, and his sisters Edna Dube, Leonie Gallagher (nee Dube), and Isabel Lord (nee Dube). He leaves behind his son, John and his wife, Van; granddaughter, Catherine; all residents of Las Vegas; as well as several nieces and nephews locally and around the country. He was a very active parishioner of St. Christopher Catholic Church in North Las Vegas, where he served as one of the first extraordinary ministers of the Holy Eucharist in Nevada. He also served the parish several times as Parish Council President, PTA President, and many other offices and ministries. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, having served as Grand Knight, District Deputy, Faithful Navigator, State Treasurer, and many other offices. Mr. Dube was very active in many clubs including the Downtown Optimist Club, and he was President of the Las Vegas Numismatic Society. The family would like to thank the staff of Silver Hills Healthcare, Marquis Plaza Regency, Mountain View Hospital, and Infinity Hospice for the compassionate care they have shown to Horace. Viewing will be 4-8 pm Monday July 6th, including a Rosary led by the Knights of Columbus at 5:30 pm, and a vigil liturgy at 6:30 pm, at Palm Mortuary; 1325 N. Main St.; Las Vegas, NV 89101. Funeral Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, July 7th, at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1840 N. Bruce St., North Las Vegas, NV 89030.
