At an early age Idella accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Idella was a faithful member of Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, IL. On November 6, 1953, Idella moved to Chicago, were she worked and met Thonal Nesbitt, her loving husband of 60 years. To that union they became the proud parents of four children. Two sons, Harold and Thonal preceded her in death.
She pursued a career as a Cosmetologist and as an entrepreneur. With a desire to build upon her thriving business, Idella incorporated her Millinery skills. She also saw how great the opportunity was to excel as a seamstress. She made home décor items, bags for choir robes and hats. Idella coordinated and directed fashion shows featuring Hats by Idella.
Ambitious and desiring to make a difference, Idella continued her education and obtained a nursing degree in 1964 from the Chicago School of Nursing. Wearing many hats she decided to become a travel consultant. She and Thonal traveled extensively with family and friends.
In 1994. Thonal and Idella moved to Las Vegas, Nevada after his retirement. . On April 30, 1995 she united with Calvary Southern Baptist Church where she served as the Director of The Helping Hands Ministry, a volunteer of the FISH Emergency Foodbank and a member of the Silver Threads Organization.
She had a special companion who she loved dearly and was truly her best friend, “Huggie”.
She leaves to celebrate the life she lived, two daughters, Denise Stigger of Denver Co. and Lovie (Harold) Campbell of Frankfort Il.; One brother in law Nathaniel (Ophelia) Nesbitt of Jackson, TN. three grandchildren, Darren (Christina) Brooks of Denver Co., Quinea (Dan) Anderson of Atlanta Ga. and Ananda Nesbitt of Chicago Il.; A host nieces, nephews, cousins, her beloved church family and friends.
