IlaRae George

IlaRae Taylor Stephenson George was a lovely lady born April 7, 1937 in Delta, Utah and passed away November 20, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was blessed with a wonderful childhood and then excelled as a teenager academically, was a cheer leader, band major and developed many friendships. She married Ray Stephenson in 1955 and raised five wonderful children. They moved 35 times in 22 years as he served as a commander in the United States Air Force. The family then made their home in Las Vegas. She was a devoted homemaker. IlaRae was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many ways including teacher, leader and missionary. She loved to play and win table games, read and do puzzles. She quilted, crocheted and had a wonderful doll collection. Most of all she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In 1999, a few years after her husband died, IlaRae met and married Bill George. Again, her emphasis was on family and the two families blended together very well. Together they spent time with family and friends, enjoyed the retired life and served in the Church including a mission to Nauvoo, IL. IlaRae made Bill and family and friends happy and will be remembered for her beautiful smile and kind deeds.

She is survived by husband Bill George, son Tony Stephenson (Nancy), son Jim Stephenson (Anna), daughter Debbie Larson (Brad), daughter Vickie Hafen (Paul) and son Matt Stephenson (Teresa), brother Bruce Taylor, brother David Taylor (Sonya), sister Jean Black, sister Judy Hoelzle and sister Sherri Terrell (Mitch), 23 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

A visitation for IlaRae will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 8801 W Alexander Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89129. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 1, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 8801 W Alexander Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89129. A committal service will occur Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cedar City Cemetery, 685 N Main St, Cedar City, UT 84721.
