Jack R Whitehorn of Las Vegas, NV, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at the age of 81. Jack was born in Covington, TN to Newman and Angula Whitehorn on May 19, 1935. Jack met his wife Mary R Tate in Newburn, TN where she was a school teacher. They married June 30, 1957 and moved to Manchester, GA in 1958. Jack later became the owner of WFDR AM & FM in Manchester, Georgia. In December, 1978, Jack and Mary relocated with their daughter Keely, to Las Vegas, Nevada. Jack was first known for his success as a guitarist and musician and was part of the new music movement in the 1950’s, working with some of the best known artists in his time. Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ruth Whitehorn, his daughter, Keely Eccles and her husband David, two brothers and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at Spring Valley Baptist Church on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 1:00 PM. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association in his name.
