James Edward Gulliford

Born May 1st, 1960 in Urbana, Illinois of Barbra Kay Thomsen and James Richard Gulliford. Jim was the younger brother of the late Christopher Gulliford and the older brother of Brian Gulliford. Jim spent a lot of his youth playing basketball and after graduating high school in 1978. He will always be remembered as a Sports Star in his home town for his achievements. He moved to Las Vegas in 1983 where he pursued many different avenues including personal trainer, airline worker, and business owner. He fathered two children, Quest Gulliford and Capri Gulliford with his first wife Julie. He married his second wife Melissa in 2023 to who's four grandchildren he became beloved "Papa J".

Jim was an avid fitness enthusiast that trained and encouraged others to pursue a healthy lifestyle. Another defining characteristic of Jim was that he loved to travel nationally and abroad. At any given time he was planning his next beach getaway. He often rejoiced in taking his children on exciting and exotic excursions as a young parent. Jim traveled the world with some of his favorite destinations being Australia and Hawaii. Other interests of Jim's included sports, collectables, buying gifts for people, and spoiling his dogs.

Jim could be described as a loyal friend, a hilarious comedian, and a romantic jetsetter that always proved to be great company to those who were blessed enough to have him in their life. Even though he has passed on, his wonderful impact on our lives remains. We love you Big Jim.

A memorial service for James will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Canyon Ridge Christian Church, 6200 W. Lone Mountain Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89130.

His smile, sense of humor, and willingness to help a friend in need will be missed. Please stop by if you can. Share a sweet, funny, or otherwise interesting experience you had with Jim. We will have a memory table as we celebrate the life he lived so well.
