James Theodore Long, age 45, passed away on April 30, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born on September 18, 1980, in North Charleston, South Carolina, James was the beloved son of James Thomas Long and Keiko Long.
James will be remembered as a devoted husband, an incredible father, and a steadfast presence in the lives of all who knew him. He was the definition of family-oriented—solid, reliable, and always there when it mattered most. Selfless to his core, he was a protector, a provider, and a source of strength for his family and friends. His love ran deep, especially for his wife and children, whom he cared for with unwavering dedication.
Those closest to James will forever cherish his humor. He was goofy, sarcastic, and quick-witted, always ready with a joke or playful comment that could lighten any moment. His caring and giving nature left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
James had a deep passion for life and the simple joys it brought. He was an avid fan of the Vegas Golden Knights and the San Francisco 49ers, and he treasured the time spent coaching and supporting his son in club baseball with GBG (Garciaparra Baseball Group). Whether hiking through Red Rock Canyon, snowboarding, or exploring the beauty of the Sequoias, James found peace and happiness in nature—especially when surrounded by his family.
He loved to travel, always seeking new adventures and opportunities to create lasting memories with his loved ones. Family trips to Disneyland and Disney World held a special place in his heart. At home, he enjoyed comics (with a quiet love for manga), video games like Skyrim, and movies—especially Marvel favorites like Guardians of the Galaxy and mind-bending films like Inception. Music was another passion, and he bonded deeply with his family over bands like Foo Fighters, Dirty Heads, and Linkin Park.
James was also someone who never hesitated to lend a hand at home—whether cooking a meal or cleaning up afterward, he took pride in caring for his family in every way.
For nearly three decades, James worked at Vons, where he built lasting relationships and demonstrated his trademark reliability and work ethic. He was respected not only as a dedicated employee but as a genuine and dependable person.
James is survived by his loving wife, Jen; his cherished children, Mason and Payton; his sister, Angela Long Coulter, and her husband Josh; his nieces, Alanna and Rylee; and his mother-in-law, “Mama Dianna,” who held a special place in his heart.
Visitation will be held at Palm Mortuary - Northwest, 6701 North Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89131, US, on May 8, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
