Jason Israel Vela, 25, of Las Vegas, passed away Sept. 3, 2011, in Duck Creek, Utah. He was born July 29, 1986, in Las Vegas, where he was a lifetime resident. Jason was, a member of the Operating Engineers Local 12 and a heavy duty mechanic at Las Vegas Paving. He graduated from Vo-Tech High School in 2005 as a certified welder. He loved to rope, ride quads, hunt, fish and go boating, but he got the most pleasure out of dancing. Jason loved life and everyone in it; his best friends and he truly cherished all his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gertrude and Israel Vela and Paul and Eleanore Durett. Jason is survived by his mother, Carol Vela; his father, Israel Vela Jr.; sister, Monica Tomlin; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. Viewing will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, both at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.
