

Jeanne Elizabeth Romero, 52, passed away Jan. 22, 2011. She was born April 15, 1958, in El Paso, Texas, and within a year, moved to Las Vegas with her parents. Her father, Raul Romero Jr., was a professional musician and played at the Sands Hotel with Antonio Morelli's Orchestra. Her mother, Serenia Tubiolo Romero, worked at the Review-Journal as a home feature editor. Jeanne attended special education classed starting at Helen J. Stewart School and when she was 10 years old, attended Variety School, where she graduated in 1976. She attended Clark County Community College English as a second language course and received an A grade. She attended Opportunity Village for a few years and then took a job at Safeway's Store, where she worked for three years as a courtesy clerk. Jeanne became involved in the hotel industry for the next 17 years working as a busgirl in the employee's dining room at the Frontier Hotel for 10 years and then at the Excalibur Hotel for seven years. Jeanne retired from the hotel industry in 1999. Jeanne was always a fun-loving and caring daughter who had a beautiful sense of humor. She achieved many of the goals she set for herself. Her accomplishments were deserving of numerous awards through her work and her social life. In addition to her many bowling trophies from Special Olympics, she also traveled out-of-state for competitions. She received a special trophy at a luncheon from the Governor's Committee on Employment of the Handicapped. Jeanne loved singing, dancing, bowling, playing her organ, participating in plays, being with friends and family and with her beautiful smile and gift of gab, she made lots of friends and co-workers happy. Jeanne was a member of Christ the king Catholic Community Church for over 20 years. She always felt at home there and had a special love for Fr. Bill Kenny and all the parishioners. Jeanne is survived by her parents, Tom and Serenia Stephens; her brother, Paul Romero and his son, Vincent DePaul Romero; her sister, Elizabeth Bodnar and her sons, Michael Bradley, Robert and Eric Stansbury and their families; her aunt, Joan Ferguson; uncle, Bob; uncle and aunt, Javier and Olivia Romero and their family; uncle, Mike Romero; uncle, Fernando Romero and family; and a host of friends and cousins. Prayer Vigil will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27. Mass of Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, with a luncheon following, all at Christ the King Catholic Community Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive., Las Vegas, NV 89118. A luncheon will follow. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Park -Northwest, 6701 N.
