Jene’ Lynn Lock-Murphy, 57, of Las Vegas, Nevada went home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2022. Her beloved husband of 34 years, Robert, and their three children, Benjamin, Grace, and Malachi were by her side.
Jene’ had many passions in life, but the top of them all was her love of the Lord and her family. Jene’ was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on February 21, 1965. Jene’ graduated from Derby High School in 1983 before moving to California to study interior design. When Jene’ moved to California she reunited with her high school friend, Robert Murphy, who now lived in California. After a short time, they were married in Las Vegas, Nevada, never realizing what a big part this city would play in the rest of their lives. Jene’ found a job she loved at ABC television and was proud of working as a production assistant on Good Morning America. She made many lifelong friends there as she would throughout her life.
Despite the love of her job, her real passion was having her own family. After six years of marriage, Jene’ and Robert welcomed their first child, Benjamin, into the world. From that point on family was her focus. Jene’ and Robert made the decision for her to become a stay-at-home mom and moved from Downey, California, to Sacramento, California, for a new job opportunity for Robert. This is where she first learned about homeschooling, and they decided that this would be her job for the next 26 years. Six years later Jene’ and Robert welcomed their daughter Grace into the world, and two years later their last son Malachi was born.
As God would have it, jobs changed and Jene’ and Robert moved to Las Vegas shortly after. Jene’ and Robert found a neighborhood where they made lifelong friends with the neighbors. Jene’ and her family started to attend Spring Valley Baptist Church at this time, which had a strong AWANA program that she and her family participated in. Jene’ also connected to the strong homeschool community in Las Vegas at this time.
Just when things seemed to settle down, another job change led them to Texas for the next six years. In 2013, Jene’ and her family returned to their home in Las Vegas, where she continued to attend church, homeschooling, started an American Heritage Girls troop, and participated in Boy Scouts. She also used her design skills working part time at the World Design Center and later at the Sunset Garden wedding venue. When Pinspiration opened a few blocks from our home, Jene’ found her perfect job, which utilized all her crafting skills which she loved.
Jene’ is survived by her husband Robert Murphy, as well as her son Benjamin Murphy, daughter-in-law Shyann Murphy, daughter Grace Murphy, and son Malachi Murphy.
A Celebration of life for Jene will be held on Saturday November 19, 2022 at 3:00pm at Spring Valley Baptist Church, 3135 S Rainbow Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89146. Please Park on the north side of sanctuary.
