Lt. Col. Sunny Jim Sullivan, 80, was promoted to glory on May 19, 2018 at home in Las Vegas, NV. He was born on November 7, 1937 in Mayhill, New Mexico. He is a graduate of Azusa College and Northern Arizona University. Since his ordination in 1960, he has served as a Salvation Army pastor in San Diego, CA, Honolulu, HI, Prescott, AZ and Boise, ID. He also taught at the School for Officer’s Training in San Francisco, CA, served as Youth Secretary in Portland, OR, and as the Clark County Coordinator in Las Vegas, NV. During his 28 years in Las Vegas, he founded an addiction program for alcoholics, drug users, and gamblers. He also established three mental health programs, a culinary program, and transitional housing for program graduates. His mission during his 20 years as CEO of The Salvation Army and 8 years as Financial Director was to help change lives by introducing people to Christ. Jim was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and loved sports, especially the running Rebels and the New York Yankees. Preceding him in death were his father and mother, Austin and Edyth Sullivan. He is survived by his loving wife Maud and four children: Patty (Howard) Kinyon of San Antonio, TX, Hazel Batch (Loren Broyles) of Boise, ID, Robin Yant of Chico, CA, and Major James (Laura) Sullivan of Sacramento, CA. Jim was most proud of his 16 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at The Salvation Army, 2900 Palomino Lane, Las Vegas, NV, 89106 at 4:00 pm. on Friday, May 25th.
