Dear Lyle, Carolyn, Denny, and Laurie,
   My sincerest condolences.  Growing up next door to you, Joan was like my second mother, and you my second family.  I'll always remember Joan's homemade dinner rolls, going to church together and sharing Family Home Evening in your home. Even at a young age, her love for you and her strong faith were obvious to me.

Lyle and Joan DeLange served as a missionary couple in Minnesota in the 1990's.  We were fortunate/blessed enough that they spent most of their time in our area of central Minnesota.  I (Scott) was traveling quite a bit at that time for business and my wife was left at home alone with two young children.  Lyle and Joan quickly became Grandpa and Grandma DeLange to us.  They were ever present helping out with something around the house.  We shared many birthdays and holidays together with Grandpa and Grandma DeLange.  It would be impossible to show more compassion and truer friendship than was shown us by Lyle and Joan.  I'm sure we as a family have never shed so many tears as we did on the day they came to our home for the last time before returning to their home in Las Vegas.  In the ensuing years we could always count on birthday cards, holiday greetings, calls on special occasions and continued friendship from Lyle and Joan.  We visited them in their home in Las Vegas some years later and were treated royally at that time.  The news of Joan's passing is heartbreaking to us. Dear Bishop DeLange,  We are so sorry to hear of Joan's passing.  You and Joan were instrumental in so many facets of our lives.  When my Mother (Adele) joined the LDS church you were the Bishop of the Harmony Ward.  You and Joan made her feel so welcome and loved.  You two were a wonderful example of righteous living and great neighbors as well.

Know that she is in the Celestial Kingdom awaiting the rest of the DeLange's.  I know she and my Mom are having a wonderful chat.

So sorry for your loss. I loved working with Joan, she was a wonderful person and always thoughtful of others. I will always remember her.

Dear Lyle and Family, I feel like my second mom has left me.  You only know how much we loved Joan.  She was a part of my life for 52 years.  I am glad she and your family were a part of my life.  Many were the visits and talks we shared.  She will be missed greatly. Her smile her cute personality and her humor were special. May you be comforted at this time. Lyle, Carolyn, Denny and Laurie so sorry for the loss of wife and mother Joan.  We are never ready for those we love to leave us.  But she will be comfortable and at peace. Joan was an elect lady. She had many, many friends and remembered all their birthdays. She had a great capacity for love which could be truly felt. She had many talents and shared them freely. She knitted, crocheted, and made many beautiful gifts.  I still have the wreath she made for me, a pearl necklace, a butterfly craft that hangs in the upstairs bathroom and a beautiful afghan.  My husband, Jack and I had a lot of good times together.  We traveled to St. George temple together (before the one was built here in Las Vegas).  Lyle and Joan were partly responsible for Jack and I going to the temple to be sealed. They are our friends forever.

Lyle, my heart goes out to you and your family. May the Lord bless you with peace and His love.
