

She was born January 28, 1938, in Springfield, Illinois but lived most of her life in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry and her first born son, Joseph (Julie), her parents Robert and Dorothy, brother Robert (Venetta), and sister Roberta.
She is survived by her sons Jerard (Judy) and John, her daughter Jacqueline (Bob), and her daughter-in law Julie (Joe). She was blessed to be a grandmother of eight grandchildren: Jared (Brooke), Jessica (Sarah), Adam (Fiona), Zachary (Brenna), Ben, Conner, Trevor (Grace), and Parker. She was additionally blessed by eight great-grandchildren: Brody, Makenzie, Jameson, Peyton, Elliot, Wilford, Myles, and Rowan. She loved her family, her faith, and ice cream (especially chocolate)!
Joan was a nurse in Las Vegas until she married and had her children. She went back to school and earned a teaching degree in science. She taught at Bonanza High School until her retirement in 1996. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, having attended St. Francis de Sales, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and St. Anthony of Padua during her lifetime.
She lived at Legacy House-Centennial for the last few years of her life. There she made many special friends and could often be heard saying, “Living here is like living on a cruise ship without the water!”
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Palm Mortuary on N. Jones. The funeral will be on May 14, 2026, beginning with a viewing at 10:00 am. The service will start at 11:00 am and will be followed by a light lunch. For more information, please contact Palm Mortuary.
