John Edward Driscoll, 66, and previously a longtime resident of Las Vegas, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 29, 2013 in Leavenworth, Indiana. John was born March 15, 1947 in Bakersfield, California. He moved with his family to Las Vegas as a young teenager where he finished high school before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He had said that he knew his draft number was coming up so he decided to enlist and get into Special Forces, where he became a Green Beret. He spent about a year and a half in Vietnam before coming back to Las Vegas to begin a career in banking. Transferring with FNB of Nevada to Reno in 1973, he met his soon to be wife, Julie and was transferred back to Las Vegas a year later. John was an exceptional father and husband. He was a Scout master for many years, where he became adept at playing Santa as well as an Indian chief. John was an artist in many mediums: he could paint, carve wood, and do stained glass. He could re-build an engine or build a family room; and he was a care-giver. In the early 2000's he moved to Indiana to help care for his mother Juanita and his brother Forrest. John was taken way too soon and will be missed horribly by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Kellie (Rob) Lacios; grandchildren Kyra and Colin Lacios; brother Forrest Pitts and his ex-wife Julie Driscoll of Las Vegas, Nv. He was preceded in death by his son Bryan, who is sure to be with him once again. A memorial service for John is planned for NOON, Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Private inurnment will take place at Palm Valley View Cemetery.
