I JUST FOUND OUT TODAY THAT MY BEST FRIEND A GUY COULD EVER WANT HAS PASSED AWAY. I LOST CONTACT WITH JOHN IN 1985 WHEN I LEFT UNLV TO GO BACK TO OKLAHOMA WHEN MY FATHER PASSED AWAY. JOHN AND I GREW UP TOGETHER FROM AGES 7-12. WE HUNG OUT ALMOST EVERY DAY AND PLAYED SO HARD. I REMEMBER HIS WONDERFUL MOTHER AND HOW SHE SPOILED US. I REMEMBER JOHN'S BROTHERS BART AND KEVIN AND SISTER SO VIVIDLY. THEY CALLED ME PEACH HEAD FOR MY BOWL HAIRCUT. I HUNG OUT WITH JOHN AT HIS DAD'S PIPER CORPORATION AT THE NORTH LAS VEGAS AIRPORT ALL THE TIME. WE WENT FLYING PLANES AND HELICOPTERS WITH HIS DAD AND BROTHERS ALL THE TIME. ALL MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES WERE SPENT WITH JOHN JONES. I AM DEVASTATED TO HEAR OF HIS PASSING.I MOVED TO FRESNO CA WHEN I WAS 12 IN 1976 AND DIDN'T SEE JOHN UNTIL WE WERE ROOM MATES AT UNLV IN 1984/1985. WE BOTH HAD CHANGED BUT WERE STILL VERY CLOSE . JOHN WAS A SWEET GUY WHO WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR YOU. I REMEMBER WHEN JOHN'S DAD HAL AND HIS WIFE FLEW ME AND JOHN UP TO OSHKOSH WISCONSIN FOR THE BIGGEST AND GREATEST AIRPLANE SHOW EVER. WE HAD SUCH A BLAST STOPPING ALONG THE WAY TO VISIT JOHN'S FAMILY MEMBERS. HIS DAD HAL WAS A GREAT MAN ALSO AND SO GOOD TO ME AND JOHN. I WAS DEVASTATED TO HEAR OF HIS PASSING AS WELL YEARS AGO. I AM SO SORRY JOHN FOR LOSING TOUCH WITH YOU AGAIN AFTER COLLEGE. THERE WASN'T A DAY THAT WENT BY THAT I DIDN'T THINK OF YOU AND THE WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF OUR CHILD HOOD AND COLLEGE DAYS TOGETHER. I PRAY YOU REST IN PEACE MY DEAR FRIEND AND I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN SOON. LOVE, DONNY GARRETT

Oh my Dear Baby Brother, I can't believe it has been 1 year since your physical presence has left us. But you continue to live on in my heart and my memories. I think of you every day, and have so many things happen all the time that makes me smile and think of you. I feel so often that different things are signs from you that you are ok. I wish I could sit and talk with you one more time in person but since I can't I will continue speaking and smiling with all your signs you send to me. I will LOVE you forever and ever and you are still "MY SHINING STAR". Keep speaking to me in you angelic ways. Thanks for the ray of sunshine you sent to me this afternoon. Love always, Melanie

John,my thoughts are of you today, 11/11/11. It has been 11 months since we said our final farewell to you, but I miss you every day. Several times today, Veteran's Day, I read about our men and women in the military, and recalled how you sent sympathy cards to the families of the fallen members of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. I found myself wanting to share news I read on the internet, knowing you would read it and send a comment. I love you John and look forward to our reunion. Mom

I have so many wonderful memories of growing up around the Jones family, and John was a big part of those great memories. He will be forever missed by all his family and friends. Rest in peace John.

I met John in 1984 while attending UNLV and pledging with the ATO fraternity, we shared several good times that year. We reconnected at church a couple of years ago and exchange numbers, however we didn't get to visit as much as I would have liked. Although 25 years had passed, it was like yesterday seeing John again, he just had that easy going way about him. He was a good friend to many and he will be missed. My condolences to the Jones family and all of his friends. We share this loss and celebrate his life together. Rest in Peace my friend.

John was a special person. Whether he was a good friend or you met him once you were just glad you knew him. May the love and caring of friends help ease the pain of his loss. Love, Helga

Paula - What a shock to learn of John's passing. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We were so blessed to have known John as a neighbor and friend - he was one of the best.

MY SYMPATHY AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE JONES FAMILY. I ALWAYS REMEMBER GETTING TOGETHER WITH JOHNNY, OSCAR & CURTIS WATCHING COWBOY GAMES. GREAT TIMES ! I MET JOHNNY AT THE NORTH LAS VEGAS AIRPORT. IT WAS ALWAYS GREAT CHATTING WITH HIM. IT WAS MOSTLY ABOUT SPORTS WHETHER IT BE THE COWBOYS, LAKERS OR REBELS. HE WAS A GOOD FRIEND & WILL BE MISSED.

Words simply are not enough to express how saddened we are by JJ's passing. He was a great guy, shy, sweet and funny. My fondest memories I have of him were during our humble beginnings with Vision. He never complained about the long hours and struggles, he just did his job with enthusiasm. He always took things in stride, like he knew it would somehow get better.

I am saddened for his family and friends, it is a great loss. If there is anything we can do, help or just to talk to someone, we are here for you. Paula, my prayers to you and the kids. DC, thank you for helping to keep Bill and I informed. We will sadly miss, but never forget our friend, JJ.

With love and tears, Beth, Bill and the boys

OUR SHINING STAR
Have you ever looked up in the night sky at a shining star?
Then noticed one streaking across the galaxy from afar?
They are bright dancing angels awaiting a call.
Working with God, together they watch over us all.
They are sent from heaven to assist those in need.
Preparing and comforting spirits needing to be freed.
Until God steps in on that final day,
And says "come with me child, let's go elsewhere to pray.
I'll carry you in my arms to the other side,
Where you'll become an angel sent to help and guide",
God watches his angels and waits for his cue,
When they tell him this child's ready, there's no more we can do.
So the angels called God on January 8 of 2011,
For him to carry my baby brother John through the gates of heaven,
Here on earth fighting for life and riddled with pain,
He spoke with God, life signs showing no more strength to regain.
John took the hand of our All Mighty and was carried to open gates,
With clarity in his head he knew a better place awaits,
He's at peace now, flying free, an angel he is,
Watching over us all, you can be sure of this,
No more pain, being sick or always being cold,
He now stands tall, with wings spread broad and bold,
And for us here on earth's plain, he remains in our heart,
With strengthening wings he now makes a new start.
But if sadness creeps in, throw it out the window,
And John will swoop down and take it, so let it go.
And now when you see a bright star you can bet it's one of God's clones,
One to help you and guide you,
YES, it's Johnnie B. Jones
(Melanie Jones Nelson 1/8/11)

We grieve now,,,but not for his passing, but for ourselves. We are left with no physical presence of John, but we hold him in our hearts and that can never be taken from us.
Fly forever free my little brother, until one day when we see each other again.
Love, Melanie

Our thoughts and prayers are with Johns family. He will be greatly missed. Terry & Joyce Messer

I was so sad to hear about Johnny’s passing. He and I go way back, thanks to his brother and my sister! We were high school buddies and had some fun times watching scary movies (Halloween, Silent Scream, When a Stranger Calls!), getting into trouble in Spanish class (he was the trouble maker…not me!) and going to Homecoming one year. (Homecoming was awkward to say the least. To start, we weren’t a couple, and we were both incredibly shy. We were way out of our element, to put it mildly!) Recently, I was fortunate to have worked with Johnny for a brief time at Vision.

I am so incredibly sorry for the grief that Paula and the rest of his family must be feeling right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I can just about bet that Hal was waiting for him to fly him off to Heaven.

Rest, Johnny. You will be missed and forever loved.

Paula and Family Jones. JJ was a Brother to me, he will be missed
by Family and Friends. He was a great inspiration to us all.

                                                                                         Love,
                                                                                  Oscar Paz and Son
